Steel Welding
|
|
|
Welding is a fundamental steel fabrication tool.
Specialty Steel's capabilities in steel part fabrication includes welding.
Welding permanently joins two parts of metal by melting the metal on each part where they touch, while pressing it together.
After cooling the metal parts are permanently joined.

Specialty Steel offers both spot and plasma welding.
Spot welding is effective for joining flat sheet metal or joining parts with some kind of overlapping flange
or protruding rim. Spot welding works by pressing the sheets together with two electrodes on each side of the sheets.
A high electrical current passes between the electrodes heating the sheets to a point where the metal
melts at the spot under the electrodes, and there joins between the sheets.
Spot welding can be used to join metal parts up to a thickness of about 0.125 inch.
Low carbon steel is best for spot welding, although some grade of stainless and aluminum are suitable.
Spot welding should not be used to bond dissimilar metals.
Plasma is actually a word for a gas that is heated to temperatures that are so high that the gas becomes ionized and,
thus, electrically conductive.
Plasma arc welding places plasma over the work piece to melt the metal by its intense heat of an electrical
arc passed through the electrically conductive plasma.
Plasma welding provides control and accuracy in joining metal parts for use in everything from kitchen appliances
to jet engines. Another benefit of plasma welding is the capability to join a
variety of metals like stainless, copper, and several others.
