Galvanized steel is steel with a surface that has been created by hot-dipping into zinc to form a thin layer of zinc alloy.
This layer is resistant to corrosion and can be paintable.
The hot-dipping process forms a relatively thick, but less formable, protective layer.
Such a steel is useful in outdoor applications such as home air conditioners.
Electro Galvanized steel is similar, but produced by electrolytically depositing the zinc coating with better control
and uniformity of the zinc thickness.
Thus, these types of steel are more widely employed by the automotive industry since the zinc coating is more formable.
